Hey Loves,
Happy New Year! Happy New Light! Happy New Love! I hope this year brings you happiness, joy, health, laughter, prosperity, love and light in abundance, overflowing!
I am not the beauty junkie/ hoarder I used to be and have been trying really hard not to purchase EVERY NEW product that hits the market. It can be hard though when you get bombarded with promotions and offers or your fave beauty influencer (name says it all) releases something you just gotta have!
One of my awesome subscribers asked me what products I can’t do without and so adding a little twist, here are some of my faves from the last year!
In no particular order…
- Kinky Curly ‘Knot Today’
When it comes to detangling my kinks and curls this makes it light work! Ingredients including organic mango extract and slippery elm help this leave-in conditioner cushion my natural hair in cruelty-free goodness!
2. Nacomi Coffee Scrub
I was sent this product for review and have been obsessed ever since. I have been giving this the most rigorous testing for the past 5 weeks. You know I don’t get swayed by gifted products and will always give it to you straight… no chaser and there is no exception with this. 100% VEGAN (yay) this is one of the best body scrubs I have ever used because it leaves your skin silky smooth and hydrated. The argan oil and cocoa butter mix left my skin feeling so very soft and nourished- dry and dead skin cells were banished. All natural and all amazing, this is now a staple in my all over body care! You can find out more on the eco-products website. There is a host of amazing natural products for skin, hair, beauty, male grooming and so much more!
3. Royal and Langnickel ‘Guilty Pleasures’ VEGAN Pro Makeup Brush Set.
They had me at Vegan to be honest. Most of my brushes are already cruelty-free but you can never have enough and as most Makeup Artists will tell you, the tools are the first to disappear! I got mine from Hooked up Shop!
4. Desi x Katy Dose of Colors Collab
I am here for glowing like a disco ball or shining bright like a diamond (more on that later). Highlighters were my guilty pleasure this year. Luckily enough I was in Florida for the launch of this epic collaboration by 2 of my favourite beauty influencers. Packaging is super glam. I picked up both highlighters (along with a couple bits) in Fuego and Mírame. They really are ‘hot fire’- if you know, you know! Mirame (top) Fuego (bottom).
5. Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay
Hair and skin deep cleanse for real! This is not a drill people. The end!
6. FENTY BEAUTY EVERYTHING!!!
The most anticipated beauty drop of the year and then some. Robyn did not come to play and I appreciated this in every way possible. Not only did she show the beauty industry what ‘inclusive’ really meant, she made sure to deliver products that pushed boundaries, broke moulds. Yup, people had to ‘Watch n Learn’ as Fenty Beauty is all dat and a bag of money and you know how RiRi handles people who have her money!
Of all the products she released the foundation was my favourite. It was not about masking the skin and making me look like a whole other unrecognisable person but instead subtly enhancing the skin I am in, freckles and all! For more on Fenty Beauty, check this out!
7. Eylure Cosmetics London Luxe Lashes
I had the privilege to be part of the Eylure team at the Glamour Beauty Festival last year where the focus was on the above collection. This ‘mink effect’ (no harm to animals- yay!) lash series was delicious in so many ways. There were full and half lashes that accentuated all eye shapes and types. Lightweight, reusable and stunning these lashes amped up my makeup looks last year with a passion and even I wasn’t ready. Shooketh! I cannot front… they know brows and lashes!
8. Elizabeth Arden New York Eight Hour Cream
Iconic. Lips, face, hands, body. You name it, it does it!
9. Zara Oriental Eau de Toilette
I can’t describe the fragrance and do it justice. When I wear it I feel like cherry blossoms and sweet kisses. You need to experience it for yourself. I am never without a couple on back up and if they ever discontinue it… we got beef!
10. Pixi Glow Mist
I am convinced that I was able to keep my summer tan longer because of this product. I have used it on clients during video shoots and more. It adds the right amount of sparkle and argan oil that will have you glowing in the right way all day! Even in the winter time!
So, there you have it. My faves of 2017. Inexpensive goodies, for the most part, that are not tested on animals (cannot confirm all of them are not) and made me soft, sexy and confident last year. Some I rediscovered, others have become my new pleasures but all worthwhile and taking up residence in my vanity and bathroom for a little while still. If you want more in-depth ‘The Beauty Holder’ style reviews on any of the above, let me know!
Hope you enjoyed this post! I’m getting my groove back, albeit slowly just trusting the process.
THANK YOU for all of the support last year. There are many of you that ride hard for this blog and never miss a post. You don’t have to comment, share or like even for me to know you are there but believe me, I do know and I am so very grateful! Love is Love.
See you in my next post…
This blog is dedicated to the memory of my Uncle Coursey who we lost over the holiday season. You supported me through so much of my life and taught me so much. We miss and love you always… angel! x
Besos 💋
TBH xoxo
