Movemeber to Remember!

Hey Everyone!

This is a little something for the Men! I haven’t done a blog for you in a while and what better one to come back with than one all about Movember!

What is it? Quite simply, every November, men grow moustaches and raise awareness (and money) for testicular and prostate cancer and also mental health. On the 1st of November, ‘Mo Bros’ take up the challenge of growing their ‘taches for 30 days. This is not small time- it’s a movement and we can all take part. To find out more about Movember, click here.

So whether you fancy a ‘Denzel Washington’ ‘Tom Selleck’  or even ‘Trey Songz’ (had to be done) type moustache here are a couple of tips to help you along your way.

Trey oh Trey

Here are a couple of quick tips.

  • Your MOustache is KING! Keep the rest of your face clean so it can shine in all its hairy glory!
  • Gently exfoliate that upper lip! Getting rid of excess dirt and oils will keep the ingrown hairs at bay
  • Moisturise! Don’t forget the ‘tache when you cleanse tone and moisturise!
  • Drink your water! Keep your body hydrated! This will encourage growth! Honest!
  • Have fun with it! Take funny pictures and upload them! Get everyone involved!
  • Do your RESEARCH and donate to a legit organisation!
  • Remember it is for a great cause! You’ve helped raise awareness for Men’s Cancers and Mental Health! YOU GO BOY!

Until next time!

Nail it! Meet Nail Genius, Charli Jepson!

Hey Everyone!

So if you’ve followed my blog from the very beginning, you will not see many nail posts! If I do wear nail polish, it is only one one hand. Not because I can’t paint the other one, just because I am that girl.

When I do mention nails it will generally involve two people. My amazing nail genius friends, Cat Nails and Charli Jepson! I am so excited to dedicate this blog to one of them today, the super talented, creative, funny and beautiful Charli!

I met Charli through Cat earlier this year when we worked together at London Fashion Week. I realised very early on that this blonde haired beauty was quite possibly my twin. She loves the colour Pink as much as I do. We laugh at the same things, have the same interests, are devoted working Mothers and name our handbags ( if you know Charli, you know Priscilla)! Her talent for nails and infectious personality have seen her go from strength to strength and I tell you now, she is one to watch. More than anything, she has a wonderful spirit with the kindest heart.

Charli is a Harmony PhD Master Educator and Freelance Nail Technician. What that means is she trains, teaches and skills you up in all things nails. When it comes to more of her intricate designs she uses just a pin and polish- tell me that is not talent! Want Audrey Hepburn on your nails? Bit of Banksy art? Maybe you would prefer diamonds and crystals hanging from your nails with flashing lights? Then Charli is your girl! Don’t worry if you just fancy a nice red polish, she does that too! 🙂

Read on for my exclusive interview with the beauty behind, Charli and the Nail Factory.

Gorgeous Charli Jepson

1. Describe yourself with a ‘song’ or ‘movie’ title.
The song NOTHING CAN STOP ME NOW 🙂 I like to think this is my moto.

7. You’re a working Mother with a busy successful career, how do you balance it all?
HAHHA I DONT KNOW!!!! TO BE HONEST I TRAINED TO DO NAILS TO WORK AROUND ADONIA AND NOW TRENT IS ON THE SCENE TOO I TRY MAINTAIN A HEALTHY BALANCE BETWEEN WORK AND HOMELIFE. I WORK SOMETIMES 7 DAYS A WEEK BUT ALWAYS HAVE MY EVENINGS AND THEN CAN TAKE A FEW DAYS OFF TO SPOIL THE KIDS. I BELIEVE ME PUTTING IN ALL THIS HARD WORK IS GREAT FOR MY KIDS. IM  MY OWN BOSS AND I LOVE MY JOB AND I WANT THAT FOR MY KIDS! NOT NECESSARILY HAVING THEIR OWN BUSINESS BUT, ITS NICE WAKING UP TO A DAYS WORK AHEAD AND SMILING AT THE THOUGHT. NAIL HARMONY UKS DIRECTORS ALSO HAVE CHILDREN SO ARE VERY FAMILY ORIENTATED, THEY OFTEN ASK ABOUT HOW THE CHILDREN ARE AND ONE OF THEIR DAUGHTERS JAZZ SMEDLEY HAS GONE ON TO ACHIEVE GREAT SUCESS WITHIN THE NAIL INDUSTRY AND EVEN LAUNCHED HER OWN NAIL POLISH BRAND “ALL THAT JAZZ” AT ONLY 17 YEARS OF AGE!!! I THINK HARD WORKIN MUMS AND DADS INSPIRE THEIR KIDS TO WANT MORE AND I TRUELY HOPE MY CHILDREN FEEL LIKE THAT ABOUT ME.

Happy Diwali! Inspired Make-up Look…

Diwali (Divali/ Deepawali), or ‘Row of Lights/ Festival of Lights‘ is a five (5) day celebration marking the New Year for Hindu’s all around the World. It takes place on the darkest night in October/ November but is a true celebration of light. The fireworks have already begun in my area, lighting up the sky. For more information about Diwali, click here.

We celebrated Diwali at school prior to the half term but I wanted to wait until it began to do an inspired look. This is a simple look and if you want to recreate it here are the steps below.

  1. Start with a clean and moisturised face.
  2. Fill in brows with pencil or powder products of your choice. As this look is focused on the eyes, brows should be dramatic and well defined.
  3. You can use any colours you want for your eye look. I choose purple to compliment my fuchsia Sari.
  4. Use a dark purple eyeliner as a base on the eyelid. A lighter one on the inner corner.
  5. Then pat a purple shadow from the middle of the lid to the outer corner.
  6. Blend any harsh edges.
  7. Apply a shimmery purple on top of the lighter purple base at the inner corner of the eye.
  8. Blend! Blend! Blend!
  9. Use a warm brown or shade close to your skintone above the crease and a reddish brown in the crease to blend any edges of the purple.
  10. Add mascara and lashes. (You can also add liner to top lashline- I opted to not go for liner on top).
  11. Line waterline with a grey/ black eyeliner.
  12. Add foundation (concealer if you want)- allow to set before going to next step.
  13. Contour with blush around hairline and hollows of cheeks.
  14. Add a reddish blush.
  15. Finally use a rose pink or bold pink lipstick. Choice is yours!
  16. Add Bindi and your look is complete.

Hair:

  • Pin hair up or let fall loosely

Jewellery:

  • Add bangles, bindi and earrings. You can also add a necklace if you so desire

Sari:

  • Fuschia and Silver Sari with a white camisole vest

Here is my completed look!

Diwali look Diwali Inspired Purple Look

I chose to keep it simple with regards to the colour on the eyes because I added some green contacts to the enhance the purple some more. I haven’t worn coloured contacts but for the once way back in College! It is crazy how much your eye colour changes the way you look!

Which is your favourite?

Happy Diwali to those who are celebrating!
