Lucky 6! Six top skin care products for Men!

Did I mention they are all under £10.00 (if you live in the UK that is).

Remember to pay attention to your skin type when choosing products. Most brands have a wide selection of items for Sensitive, Oily, Dry, Mature skin and more. This is a quick list of some of the good products out there. There are more costly items that are amazing but this post will focus on some that won’t break that trust fund or your drinking budget.

If you haven’t started your skin care routine yet, maybe these products will serve as a starting point.

Face Wash:

  • Nivea for Men Deep Cleansing Face Wash- around £3.50-£3.99

Nivea really is a brand that you can trust when it comes to skin care. The above not only refreshes your skin but does as the name suggests, provides a deep clean.

  • Nivea for Men Skin Energy Face Wash -Instant Effect Q10- around £4.00-£4.95

Another one from Nivea. Gives dull skin a much needed boost and revives the skin leaving you looking and feeling refreshed!

Face Scrub:

  • Nivea for Men Exfoliating Face Scrub- around £4.49
Yep! Another Nivea product. If you have rough, dry skin then this is for you as it scrubs away the dirt and oil clogging those pores.
  • Bulldog Original Face Scrub- around £5.50 and up
This product was recommended by a friend of mine who uses it religiously. He says that it makes his face soft to the touch and is not as drying as other products. Great before a shave as it gets the skin ready by lifting that dead hair and skin.
Moisturisers:
  • No. 7 for Men Energising Moisturiser- £8.25 @ Boots
For anyone who has tired looking skin and wants it to look more alive.
  • L’Oreal Men Expert Hydra Energetic Daily Moisturiser – Around £7.99 and up
By it’s own account it is said to target 5 signs of fatigue (dryness, tightness, dullness roughness and loss of firmness).
The above are just a guide to what’s out there. When used with other products such as masks, serums, night repair treatments, sun protection, anti-ageing products etc, your skin will start to reap the rewards. It is so important for men to look after their skin and to know what is good for their skin type. Your skin will thank you later!
Items available at your local pharmacies, drug stores, supermarkets and much more.

Enjoy.

Bright eyes…Bright lips! Colourful make-up look!

I love pink lips…FACT! Way before Nicki of the Manaj clan started rocking it too! Pink and colourful colours are a great way to make a statement with your make-up. Here is a quick look that I wore last week.

I have a very small lid space on my eyes and light bright colours are a great way to cheat the illusion of a bigger eye! For this look I used the following:

Face: Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Flawless Wear Concelear (what a mouthful) in 06 New Extra Deep under eyes/ and around mouth only/ K Co Natural Glow Powder to set concealer/

Cheeks: Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Hussy

Lips: Revlon Colourburst lipstick in Fuchsia/ MAC Magenta lipliner

Eyes: Elf Single purple eyeshadow (this was only £1.00 from http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk)/ Blended with MAC Texture/ Highlight (under browbone) MAC Arena

Lashes: Ardell Demi Wispies

Hope you enjoy!

Smoke Signals… simple classic look!

I don’t often go for dramatic make-up looks and tend to keep it simple. I was asked how to create a simple smokey eye and came up with the look below. Apologies if my glasses do not allow you to get a clear reflection of the look. Smokey eyes and red lips can ooze glamour, sophistication and old Hollywood. It really is all in the blending of the eyes and a strong line for the lips!

Beauty Holder Tip: Line your lips with a darker shade of the colour you plan to use on your lips. This will give more definition and make ’em pop!

For the eyes, blend any harsh lines with a complimentary colour for warmth and depth in the crease or socket area. It doesn’t have to be a very strong colour but something that allows you to gently fade out into a gradient effect.

A smokey eye can work on any eye shape and with practically any colour. It is all in the blending. The placement of the base colour doesn’t have to be perfect if you are going to blend it out. It takes time to perfect but practice makes perfect!

I am certainly not a big (small) screen heroine or indeed a glamour girl but hopefully this will inspire you to try something different with your make-up! Simple but timeless!

I don’t tend to use foundation on my whole face so this look doesn’t include that. Should you decide you want that coverage then complete your foundation routine as normal.

  • Foundation as Concealer: Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H- Shade 12 (under eyes and around more pigmented areas of the mouth). As I was covering under my eyes with black shadow I only applied a thin layer.
  • Powder:  MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural Powder in Deep Dark
  • Cheeks: NARS Taos blush
  • Lips: LA Colours lipliner pencil in Forever Red/ INGLOT lipstick 409/ NYX Megashine lipgloss in Plush Red
  • Eyes: Black Kohl eyeliner (cheap no name one)- all over lid/ NARS Night breed/ MAC Texture to blend harsh lines- especially in crease area. Highlight (under brow bone) MAC Arena/ MAC Spiked brow pencil.
  • Lashes: Eldora lashes H131
  • Brushes: Various

I can’t stress the importance of blending! A great tool to have is a good blending brush. It makes all the difference!

Have fun creating your own timeless look…
