Sugar and Skull! My alternative Halloween look…

Hey Everyone!

Most of my friends and indeed family were pretty freaked out by my Geisha look. Got me thinking that Halloween looks do not have to be all blood and gore. My 10 year old son, who is Autistic does not seem to like the scary looks I practise at home. I also have a young niece and nephew who are not into zombies or vampires. Whilst I am Team Edward and a Twihard through and through I wanted to do something simple and pretty.

You may find this surprising but I do more complicated looks than this. I don’t have the confidence to share them yet but hope to soon. I appreciate all the kind words and comments and support you give with all that I post. Means more than I can say. Thank you!

I know alot of my looks are simple and pretty and this has a slight twist. It has sparkle! Day of the Dead is a Mexican tradition that is celebrated on the first two days of November. It is believed that Heaven’s gates open on the 1st for deceased little angels to reunite with their families for 24 hours. On the 2nd day it is the adults that are reunited. Homes are decorated with sugar skulls, flowers, candles, food and more. The living believe that their loved ones in Heaven will protect them and bring good luck. In the Catholic faith, All Souls or All Saints Day is celebrated on in most countries the same days. Skulls and figurines were made out of sugar and heavily decorated, hence the term sugar skull. They are bold bright colourful and BEAUTIFUL! This is the short version of the story!

Here is my simple and pink take on a sugar skull. I am not a fan or spiders so chose not to draw a web on my face- no need to encourage them. I also love the colour combination of pink and purple so opted for this to compliment my skin as opposed to white and black. If you would like tutorials on the looks I blog about let me know!
