So the second in my 5 minute beauty series is all about the lips. The title is slightly misleading because you won’t actually need all that time. The purpose of this series is to try and encourage my fellow beauty lovers to not cram a full face routine into 5 minutes. Instead focus your efforts on one area and make that count.

Lips are sensual. Whether you have full ones, thin ones, different shaped ones…they are a gorgeously fabulous part of your face that command their own attention. If you’ve read any of my other posts, you’ll know I’m quite obsessed with products for the lips. My pout may not resemble that of Angelina Jolie but I do love them and am happy to leave the house with moisturiser and just lipstick. The right lipstick.
A quote I will have undoubtedly mentioned before is that the right lipstick can make you feel like you have a full face of make- up on. So be inspired!
Let’s do this!
- Pucker Up! Start with your fully cleansed, toned and moisturised face. Apply a balm, vaseline or lip primer to your lips. Soft lips are happy, sexy lips! Dry lips… well, let’s just say they are the opposite.
- Hot and Cold! I let the weather predict my lip mood. When it is warm outside and my skin is more tanned, I switch up my lip looks. I love glosses/ lipsticks/ products that are two toned or have some shimmer. In the colder months, I am a fan or deep dark colours. Products with gold or bronze reflect light beautifully on dark and very tanned skin and instantly light up the face. Ones with silver or pearly finishes look great on fair skin.
- Make it last! Once you have chosen and applied your colour- lock it in place with a sealant. You can also blot with tissue and powder and reapply. This will help it last longer and give the appearance of a stain when it starts to wear off.
- Pout like you mean it. You should feel confident with just your lips and nothing else. Ok! Lips and brows because as we said before, they frame the face.
If it is not what you are used to I know I am asking you to give up a lot. Try it. If you chose the right shade, your lips are lighting up your face as we speak and you don’t even know it. Your lips house one of your best features… your smile! That already makes you beautiful in my book!
Here is me…nothing but moisturiser and a slight smile. (Yep! Those brows are still not done. I have laid myself bare in the name of beauty confidence :D).
With lips and a smile. See the light reflect from the shimmer in the second pic!
The product on my lips is Como by NARS.
No camera tricks. No special lighting, just me and the iPhone. No filters.
I hope this post made you feel beauty confident, if only a little.
