Hey Loves! I hope that you are all doing well β€οΈ
A light-hearted post today as I share some of what I’ve been rockin’ to over the last year. Itβs not quite President Obamaβs list lol. Now, this is not to be confused with my favourite songs of 2021, or indeed of all time but just what my soul connected to. Some dope music was released last year but also some trash (they really donβt make it like they used to). Not all of them were on repeat to be honestβ¦ they just hit the levels.
I make no secret of how much I love the power of music and lyrics. Music transports me away from myself at times, in what I am sure some will describe as ‘out of body’ experience. The year I had in 2021 saw me listening to a diverse catalogue of music, both new and old. It lifted my moods and drowned my sorrows. It led me to praise and worship and get all the way in my feels. It affected me as it has always done… deeply. Disclaimer: Now don’t try and read between the lines with the songs/ artists/ lyrics- they may have been a song I heard on the radio that resonated with some emotion or had a dirty bassline. Also, some of the songs have parental advisory warnings, so be warned.
So in no particular order, here are my 10 most listened songs from the past year. If you know… you know π
Smokin Out The Window– Bruno Mars, Anderson .Paak & Silk Sonic
Fill Me Up/ Overflow (medley)- Tasha Cobbs Leonard
A Little Bit Of Luck– DJ Luck and MC Neat
No Love– Summer Walker feat SZA (*Linked the clean version here)
Stink Behavior (Fire Water Refix) – Teddy Rhymez x Machel Montano
Sigueme Y Te Sigo– Daddy Yankee
Rock and Come In– Linky First
Hasta El Amanecer– Nicky Jam
Won’t He Do It– Koryn Hawthorne
Fistful Of Tears– Maxwell
Let’s gon’ make it 12 because no these 2 were tied for the next spot anyway and them classics are heavy. If you know music you’ll know the link between the two π
Boys Of Summer– Don Henley
New Kid In Town– The Eagles
I gotta thank my old school DJ Daddy for my eclectic taste in music. He had us listening to everything when we were younger. Seriously, you donβt wanna test my musical knowledge across all genres. I’m for sure the friend that can sing all the elevator music or song selections is department stores. See I’m not just hip-hop, 90s jams, and soca. π
What were you bumping to last year? Let me know!
See you on the next post!
Besos π TBH xoxo
