Hey Loves,
I want to wish you a blessed Good Friday.
The Easter season is truly special in many ways, even if you are not a Christian or believe in God. For me, someone who has been taking the time to renew my faith and relationship with the Lord, I am reminded that Jesus paid the highest price, his life, so that we could have eternal life and be forgiven of our sins.
Forgiveness can be a tough call, right? Someone has wronged you, hurt you, embarrassed you, humiliated you… the list is endless. Jesus demonstrated forgiveness beyond measure. As even in the midst of his death, he asked His Father to forgive his persecutors. Jesus taught us about love, patience, humility, understanding and so much more. Lessons that I have not always been so willing to receive or extend to others. Today is somewhat different though.
You see, not only is it Good Friday, but it is also World Autism Awareness Day (2nd April every year)- part of Autism Awareness Month (every April). I do not share much of the impact that autism has on my life on this blog, I’ve kept it quite separate intentionally. Although, I cannot think why. It is no secret that my son is a young person with severe autism, and over the years I have come to be proud that he is who he is. The same is said for my super intelligent nephew, who we wouldn’t change for the world. The twins, and all of children and young people I know and work with, with autism, YOU are amazing! Even through the trials and tribulations, I hold close many of the lessons Jesus taught, not only to forgive but to love one another… NO MATTER WHAT!
What ever ‘your difference’, embrace it. NO MATTER WHAT!
Love yourself (as God loves you). NO MATTER WHAT!
Forgive yourself (and others too… but start with yourself for now, if that’s all you got). NO MATTER WHAT!
May God bless you, your family, loved ones and everyone this Easter season.
