It has been a while since I did a product review and it was important that the first one I returned with was special. We are highlighting a #BlackOwnedBusiness and one created by one of my closest friends.

Smooth’d by Glemz is a new skin care brand that is both natural and vegan-friendly (so you know I’m involved), the brainchild of Glemma E. Her product line is currently made up of deliciously rich body butters in a variety of scents that will leave you skin soft, moisturised and gently scent-kissed! The body butters are created with a balanced base of Shea and Cocoa butters as well as oils and skin nourishing vitamins.

Why I love this product!

I purchased the Vanilla X Cinnamon 200ml butter (£10 plus £3.50 postage and packaging) back in June 2020. I have been using it daily for almost a month and my skin is in love. With even more frequent hand-washing and use of sanitisers (due to Ms. Rona) my hands have been drier than normal- this body butter came right on time. The scent is not over-powering and the natural ingredient list does not leave my skin greasy like I’ve been bathing in some cooking oil concoction. After every application my dry and often sensitive skin is quenched for hours and my melanin is glowing! You can feel the love in Smooth’d by Glemz body butters… in fact you can probably feel some of her rich and proud Grenadian heritage in every product. These body butters rival my faves from The Body Shop (no cap) and are becoming a firm favourite, if I can decide what scent to choose next!

The price point is more than reasonable for the product sizes and as you can see from the images the large size is packed to the brim. £6 for the smaller 125ml and £10 for 200ml. Compared to other well-known brands you are getting value for money.

Packaging: 4/5

Packaging is minimalist and cute. Personalised, handmade and simple. The container is a durable and reusable plastic which is also widely recyclable. The labels are likely to succumb to the natural ingredients as you open and close and use the product. The handwritten batch and best before date therefore is likely to fade over time.

The body butter was already a hit in my eyes once I knew it was vegan-friendly. There is a great selection of unique scents, as well as unscented, which is awesome. I was pleasantly surprised at how soft my hands felt after the initial application. I honestly lathered it all over my body pretty quickly thereafter and a little goes A LONG WAY! I have sensitive skin at the best of times and completed a patch test as instructed on the product. I am fortunate to not have had any adverse reactions to the butters. Over the past couple of weeks my skin has embraced the vanilla x cinnamon body butter and I can see it being a part of my daily skin care from now on. Pay close attention to where you store the product due to the oils inside it and please don’t eat it. Yes, you heard me. These body butters will make a great gift for yourself or others… including the men in your life. Smooth’d by Glemz has taken the time to get this product right. This is not your average body butter boo!
