Hey Loves,
Summer is officially here and has been for a minute! In between the heat waves and thunderstorms I hope that you all are enjoying the seasonal change where you are.
Haven’t posted a makeup look in a while. I’ve mentioned before that I don’t wear makeup on a daily basis. If anything it has it has been specifically for special occasions at the moment. My go to look in warmer weather and everyday is brows and lips. looking back at my early blog posts I had a serious addiction to bold and bright lips. Recent posts I have favoured a nude lip but I am getting my bold lip mojo back.
Bright lips are not just for the summer. They can be rocked whatever the weather.
Beauty Holder Beauty Tip: Don’t be afraid of colour. It is all about adapting a shade for fair, tan or warm skin. Great time to mix custom colours with your lipstick and glosses. Lining your lips with a darker shade and then adding a light lipstick in the same colour family for an ombre and softer look.
On netflix it may be ‘black’ but in my makeup world, Orange is the new red! A bold statement lip for the summer this outshines a red lip for me anyway of the week. It warms the skin and gives such a glow that looks gorgeous from sun up to sunset.
Think an orange lip is too much too soon? Then start with a coral and work your way up to orangey gorgeous in time. I dare you!
My favourite of all time has to be the Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick ‘In Love with Ginger‘ mixed with Milani ‘Sweet Nectar‘.
If you know, then you know, I am a sucker for a pink lip. Hot pink to be precise. If I had to wear one shade everyday for the rest of my life it would be ‘Girl About Town’ by MAC. This is not what is pictured though.
As with an orange shade it stops the show and commands attention.
I am rocking Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in Pink Punch. Another drugstore steal that is packed with vibrant colour. Long lasting and moisturising too.
Here are some swatches of the colours also (sorry the lighting wasn’t great)! They are not extremely glossy or sticky but do have a nice shine to them. There are some awesome dupes on the market as well with a matte finish if you prefer.
Greyish and stone finish lips are all the rage now as well as blue, greens and rainbow bright lip colours. How bold are you willing to go?
Beauty Holder Beauty Tip: Always make sure lips are moisturised and soft when applying any lip colour but especially bold colours. Want to stop it from bleeding? Blot lips with tissue and use a powder puff with a little powder on top to ‘set’ lips in place. Lip liner and concealer is also a great way to make sure the lips remain the focus.
